I love making this dish because it’s so versatile and allows me to get dinner on the table fast. The combination of juicy ground beef, tender potatoes, and melted cheddar cheese creates the ultimate cozy meal. Plus, you can easily customize it by adding more of your favorite veggies or even switching up the seasonings.
This dish is not only delicious but also a breeze to clean up since it’s all made in one pan. What’s better than that?
I like to make this meal in my cast iron, but any skillet pan will work. Here is a link to my lodge cast iron that I use for a lot of my recipes!
Instructions for the Hamburger Potato Skillet:
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef, onion, and garlic until the beef is no longer pink and the onion is translucent. Drain off any excess fat and set the mixture aside.
2. In the same skillet, melt 2 to 4 tablespoons of butter. Add the diced potatoes and cover. Cook for about 10 minutes, stirring often, until the potatoes are fork-tender. You may need to add more butter if the pan gets too dry.
3. Once the potatoes are cooked through, return the beef mixture to the skillet. Stir everything together and season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder to taste. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until heated through.
4. Turn off the heat and sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the top. Cover the skillet and let it sit for 3-5 minutes, allowing the cheese to melt.
5. Serve immediately. Enjoy!
