Ingredients
- 3 lbs potatoes I prefer Russet, but Yukon Gold would be good too
- 4 ½ c milk Preferably whole milk to make it a bit more creamy
- 6 tbsp butter I like to use salted butter, but unsalted would be fine too
- salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder Just a sprinkle of these seasonings to your liking
- shredded cheddar cheese, bacon pieces, green onions, etc Optional
Instructions
- Peel, wash and dice potatoes.3 lbs potatoes
- Place diced potatoes into a medium/large size soup pot. Fill pot with water until potatoes are covered.
- Cook potatoes over medium to high heat, about 15-20 minutes, until fork tender.
- Drain out the water then place potatoes back into the pot.
- Add in remaining ingredients and cook on medium heat until milk is bubbling around the edges of the pot, about 5-10 minutes.4 ½ c milk, 6 tbsp butter, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder
- Taste to see if you want to add in anymore seasonings, then ladle into bowls and serve! Sprinkle with some shredded cheese, bacon pieces or anything other topping if desired!
